John Malcolm, a lawyer and Director of the Edwin Meese III Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., has completed a lengthy study on "the intersection of mental illness, violence, and firearms." The three-part study, published by the Heritage Foundation as Legal Memorandums No. 239, 240 and 241 from January 31st to February 14th 2019, provides much-needed research on and analysis of the problems facing our society in dealing with mental illness and violence, particularly violence involving firearms. The three-part Memorandum is linked here with permission from the author. (Mr. Malcolm was assisted in writing this study by Amy Swearer, a legal policy analyst at the Heritage Foundation.)
